I.E. Faculty Honored by College of Engineering
The College of Engineering recognized leading faculty for their contributions over the past year at the Annual Faculty/Staff Meeting on May 6th. Among those recognized were industrial engineering faculty members Dr. C.S. Nam, Dr. Ed Pohl and Dr. Manuel Rossetti.
Dr. Nam, Associate Professor, received the award for Outstanding Researcher. He has been with the Industrial Engineering Department since, 2004. Dr. Nam’s research activities focus on brain-computer interface and neuroergonomics (BCI/NE), haptic audio virtual environment (HAVE), and cognitive neuroergonomics (CE). He is also the recipient of the NSF CAREER Award for 2010.
Dr. Pohl, Associate Professor, received the award for Outstanding Service to Students. He has also been with the Industrial Engineering Department since 2004. Dr. Pohl’s research interests include repairable systems, large-scale systems engineering and analysis, probabilistic design, risk and reliability and engineering optimization. He teaches courses in quality control, engineering statistics, non-linear programming, heuristics, risk modeling, systems engineering and management. He serves as Director and Chair of Studies for the Operations Management Program.
Dr. Rossetti, Professor, received the award for Outstanding Teacher. He has been with the Industrial Engineering Department since 1999. Dr. Rossetti is currently serving as the Associate Department Head. His research is focused on the design, analysis and optimization of transportation, inventory, healthcare and manufacturing systems, using stochastic modeling, computer simulation, information systems and heuristic modeling techniques. He teaches courses in the areas of probability modeling, discrete event simulation, object-oriented and database systems, transportation/logistics modeling and inventory modeling.
