The competition was sponsored by the College Industry Council on Material Handling Education (CICMHE) and Bastian Material Handling (BMH). BMH developed the case based on actual customer products and data. Russell D. Meller, the team's advisor, said, "I'm really proud of the team. The competition takes place over the last five weeks of the semester and the students have to go above and beyond normal course requirements to address the case set out in the competition. This year's case was especially challenging from a data analysis point of view and they rose to the occasion."
This team also won the Hytrol Challenge Award for Fall 2007, an award that honors the top material handling team and is sponsored by Hytrol Conveyor in Jonesboro, AR. Gregg Goodner, President, said "Congratulations to you and your team of students for taking 2nd place in the Material Handling Design competition. It sounds like the competition was tough and to receive the “silver” medal is quite an accomplishment. "
Congratulations to Brent, Sean, Kevin, Jonathan, and Dr. Meller for this oustanding achievement.
