The Industrial Engineering Honors Experience
The INEG Honors Experience is designed to give honors students the opportunity to pursue unique coursework opportunities and research experiences and is available to INEG undergraduates who are also enrolled in the University of Arkansas Honors College. Participation in and completion of the INEG Honors Experience is optional. Additional information about eligibility to participate in this program can be found on the College of Engineering Honors Program website.
To complete the honors program, students must complete at least 12 credit hours of honors courses. At least 6 of these credit hours must be earned from engineering courses. Students must also complete an honors thesis to complete the honors program.

The Honors Thesis
The Honors Thesis is a written document that summarizes the student’s individual research effort conducted under the supervision of a tenured or tenure-track member of the INEG faculty. This research may or may not be funded by the faculty mentor. The written document and a corresponding oral presentation (defense) must be approved by the faculty mentor and a second, tenured or tenure-track member of the INEG faculty. The Honors College has an ongoing program that is a good source of funding for Honors College students to pursue their undergraduate research. In addition to completing the Honors Thesis, students are responsible for completing the following forms that can be found on the College of Engineering Honors Form Page:
- Thesis Project Proposal
- Honors Paper/Thesis Duplication Release
- College of Engineering Honors College Graduation Certification*
- Library Transmittal Form**
- Students should also complete the Department of Industrial Engineering Honors Program Graduation Worksheet.
Three copies of each completed form should be made. One copy should be given to the Honors Director, one copy given to the Engineering Dean’s Office, and one copy given to the INEG Office to be placed in the student’s folder.
*The College of Engineering Honors College Graduation Certification must be initialed by the Associate Department Head (Dr. Mason) prior to the Departmental Honors Director signing the form. This form must be submitted to the Engineering Dean's Office (Bell 3189) one week prior to the last day of classes of the student's last semester.
**The Library Transmittal form requires a College of Engineering signature which is provided by the Engineering Dean's Office.
